As the title says, this is where I'll be putting my make-up stuff. I just started trying my hand at make-up...something I've never used before in my life! My materials included: One 3-inch thirty-year-old eyeliner pencil One 30-year-old block of silver eye-shadow A Q-tip I want the real make-up soooo bad! (the Nye-brand...you know, the only brand of make-up not made with pig fat?) I bet I could do so much better if I had the proper materials. But, for now, enjoy what little bit I had to work with! My mom took a couple pics (the two bottom left hand corner ones---she got me to laugh a little and snapped the picture before I could turn into my usual mopey self XD) and I did the other 3 face-shots. I never try and immitate an EXACT make-up job. I like combining characters. Here we have a combination of Munkustrap and Jemima (I guess) XD Sorry for my fug-mug, I don't usually show my face over the internet, but whatever. Soooo...whatcha think?

Wow, that's really good! Especially for what you had to work with. I can definitely see the Munk/Jemmie combo going on. Nice job.
Does the Q-tip work well at all for drawing smallish/feathery lines? I was trying to use make-up crayons for one of my attempts at whisker lines and it just wasn't working.

Thank you very much! Glad you can actually see the combo I was going for!
As cheap and expendable as they are, yes Q-tips surprisingly work great for blending and feathering. Notice the stripes on the side of my face near my ear on the pic in the lower right hand corner. Blended the silver shadow and the eyeliner with the Q-tip and it definetely gives a feathery effect. Perfect for whiskers and 'hair' lines, like the markings on my forehead.

Awesome, that's what I'm having trouble with right now in trying to add in the side and forehead makeup on my costume. I'll definitely try the Q-tip trick.

lol, I'd love to know what you guys think the best things to use for makeup are, because I don't even wear 'normal' makeup.

That's pretty cool! I was actually thinking that it looks like a combination of Munkustrap and Jemima before I even saw the caption beneath the picture, haha. That must mean you did an excellent job.

Thanks so much, musicgal! New Mugshots! Okay, so my mom was kind enough to buy me some make-up at the Dollar store (like we can afford anything else XD). She got me a 12-color eye-shadow set and some liquid eye-liner. Had some fun with it.... Sorry, my POS camera took away all the pretty colors.... Can't guess who it is? It's a cross between Jemima and Rumpleteazer! (Because Jem has a white muzzle, it woulda looked bad to put the stripe of white across the face/nose like Rumpleteazer really has, so I made it the goldenrod-orange in the middle instead.) I did Liz, too, but my computer had a virus and I couldn't take pics of it -_-. But I'll do it again soon.

Very nice, especially for working with eyeshadow and eyeliner only!. I wish the colors were a little brighter so we could see better, but I totally understand the camera issue. I've had to fight with mine on the occasion to get anything decent out of it. I really want to see Liz!!
@cafalle: I use a combination of leftover Halloween grease paint (in various colors, you can get sets that have a couple different pallets in them), black and brown eyeliners/lip pencils, and creme make-up. If you have a Halloween store near you, you can find creme make-up pretty cheap, which I find works well for the detailing (whisker lines, eye and lip wings, etc.). I also use make-up crayons (again leftover from Halloween), to do side and forehead details, but you can use eyeliner for that as well. As far as applicators go, I bought a cheap make-up brush set at Walmart and some sponges. Q-tips can also work well, just ask Roach.

Thank you and yes, I wish it woulda showed all the cool colors I used (and layers). I'll try and do Liz again tonight (I'm almost out of white, but I think I can manage with what I've got). Here's one I did last night. It's a cross between Rumpleteazer and my own variation of Skimbleshanks. Colors came out a little better on this one. lol...I like the upper-right hand corner pic. I have this completely ditzy, awkward "But...but-I-didn't-do-it!"-look on my face XD I can't wait to get a wig and cover up those freakin' ears of mine. Seriously, look at them! They're roughly the size of a small studio apartment

Lol, your ears are fine Roach! But a wig would be cool to see. I find it gives the face another step forward in realism towards the characters. I love the detail/line work you did on this second set. It's really well done. How do you get your lines so well defined/neat? Mine tend to be wobbly or too thick when I try to draw them.

Thanks very much, gals! (Pip, your question was answered over at Endless Masquerading, I'm not writing it all again XD And yes, I agree, a wig helps BIGTIME.) Liz Make-up. Done with 30-year old black eyeliner pencil, black liquid eyeliner, and my 30-year-old block of gray eyeshadow. In case you forgot what she looked like, here's Liz again

Lol, thanks. Got it there. Unfortunately my hand not so steady when it comes to painting. Drawing in pencil I'm ok with, but I failed at painting even when we were doing suns and skies with watercolors back in elementary school. My sky always ended up one big green mess XD. I think the liquid eyeliner thingy might work for me though, since it's a smaller, stiffer tip on the applicator and might be easier for me to control. I'll have to try it when I run out of actual eyeliner.

Pip: A little tip about Liquid Eyeliner---it goes where it wants XD Work very hard to gain control over it, or it will rule you...... Now, Roach as just Jemima......got some new, not-$1-Store eyeshadow, liner and pencils. img691.imageshack.us/img691/9930/jemimaroach2.jpg [/img] I'm not trying to be cute in this one. This is me trying to position the camera just right so that it'll actually take a picture of my face instead of my chest (my camera's a perv). And, when I'm in such deep concentration, my tongue tends to navigate between my teeth and hang out the side of my mouth like some kind of mentally-challenged Bulldog. DAMMIT, ROACH, PUT THAT AWAY!!!!
