Hello cats and kittens (Or you know, all of you people out there that love the show and love to rp them)! I'm brand new to the site, but I' m very excited to be here and to meet and play with you all.
Let's see, a bit about myself. For the purposes of the internet you can call me Pippin, everybody else does. I'm a 24 year old female (currently unemployed) but looking for jobs in the fields of marine biology and ecology, as that is what my background is in. I absolutely love theater and musical theater, and if I had more guts I probably would have gone to school for that. Alas, I don't, so I've taken to participating in it as a hobby, along with roleplaying. I hail from Massachusetts, East Coast USA, and right now they're threatening snow soon and it makes me want to cry.
I've been working with theater in some capacity off and on since I was 8, and I love singing and dancing. We have a local theater company in my home town that I help out with, both as stage crew and acting. The only real musical role I've ever had was as Schroeder as part of my small college theater company production of 'You're A Good Man Charlie Brown' (we had very few males try out, so some of us girls got to cross dress, lol). Oh, and I've also played Mark from RENT on a selections thing we did (I guess I just play boys well XD). I've been busy lately and have been away from theater, but I really want a chance to get back into it. I'm thinking of taking dance or gymnastics lessons.
And now on to why we're all here: CATS!. Admittedly I'm rather a newcomer to the show, but I've watched the video three times in a week now, and completely love it. At first, I was kind of confused as to what was going on plotwise, but I'm fairly certain I've got it now, lol. As you might be able to guess, Mistoffelees is my absolute favorite, but I'm also a big fan of Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer, as well as Skimbleshanks and Munkustrap.
So that's a very rough and rambling outline of me. If you have any questions, please ask! I'm very glad to be here with you all!

Welcome, Pip ^_^ I'm a recent CATS fan myself, only I haven't STOPPED watching it since I first saw it XD I'm dying to see the play, but I'm also worried I'll be sorley disappointed when compared to the movie (especially with Tugger...ugh, I would've given anything to see John Partridge as Tugger LIVE....) I'm 21 years old and I would have loved to get into musical theatre...only problem is...I can't dance...can't sing and I can't act (that wouldn't be a problem, would it? XD) Career wise, I'm a legitimate Breeder of High and Upper-Mid Content Wolfdogs, and I'm also a 24-hour live-in caretaker for my disabled mother. I'd like to be a famous writer someday (of movies or animated TV shows like Family Guy...either one ) My art isn't too promising, so I rely on my writing skills. I'm just waiting to be discovered. Won't be long now........ Anyways, welcome to the forum! Sorry it's not very active, but it's very difficult to find a CATS forum that has had any activity on it at all, so this is one of the best, in my opinion! Also, you can check out some of my personal fav. websites such as Fantasia's Corner of the Junkyard, Oriana's Moonlit Playground and Nedame's Jellicle Hideout. Check out the Jellicle Top 100 Sites for more! Nedame's site, for example is very active and is constantly updated, as is Fantasia's site. Some have forums, but most are inactive. Have fun here!

Thanks for the welcome! I'll definitely have to check out some more of those sites to aid my growing obsession as I wait for my DVD to come in . It seems like forum activity in general (I'm a member of a couple, non-Cats related forums as well) is down lately, so I'm not too worried. Just happy to find a place that's active and isn't so already developed/established that I have no hope of catching up XD. I'm dying to see the play as well, but have similar reservations, lol. I've seen clips/pictures of characters from other versions, and I have to say I've grown particularly attached to the video characters. Of course, the video was my first introduction to the show, so that might have something to do with it. I have to find out if it's touring around me and see if I can drag my friends. You're a dog breeder? That's really cool. I've worked with dogs in a shelter capacity as part of an animal welfare volunteer during my undergraduate work in Maine. We helped with obedience and adoptions for the animals. Oh, and as to your writing, I'm reading your fanfic now, and I love it so far! Best of luck and keep up the good work! I like the way your story develops itself, and I think your new kittens are absolutely adorable! I'll be sure to review it as I go .

Which DVD did you go for? I got the 2-disc Ultimate Edition with behind-the-scenes interviews and such. It was cool to hear Jacob Brent talk about playing Mistoffelees, but I was so bummed when they wouldn't let John Partridge talk. I mean, he'd been involved with CATS since the beginning. He's played not only the roles of Tugger, but also Munkustrap, Alonzo, Macavity and even the Magical Mister Mistoffelees. Why they wouldn't let him talk is beyond me.... I'm also a member of non-CATS related forums. Mostly anime and Family Guy stuff. CATS is actually a whole new genre for me. Yes, I'm nervous about seeing a play version for the exact same reason. In my opinion, Jacob was the best Mistoffelees. John was the best Tugger. Micheal was the best Munkustrap. Jason was the best (and most perverted) Alonzo. I've seen pics of the CATS characters in the show in my area (up in Portland Oregon), and, for lack of a better statement...they're simply unsatisfactory. But, then again, the cast put together for the movie was, in Andrew Lloyd Webber's opinion, the best cast ever. Who's to argue? I breed wolfdogs; not just any run-of-the-mill dog. They're between 80% and 95% wolf (Timber/Arctic cross). We also breed wolf-colored pom/chis. Our business is called Big Wolf Lil Wolf and we'll have a suitable website up soon. Rest assured, none of the pups we've sold have ever wound up at an animal shelter or wolf sanctuary. They're all still with their owners Dogs aren't really my thing; my mom loves them. I'm more of a snake or horse person lol...well, the song said he produced 7 kittens right out of a hat (though in my fic, he did it the good old fashioned way XD...and he only had 5...granted, with 4 different mothers, but hey, they ARE cats.......) I'm really glad you like the fic so far! It's the first time I've ever written a story for a non-animated show/play. It's a challenge, but I'm eagerly enjoying the experience. Hope you enjoy it more as you read on!

I went for the Ultimate Edition as well. It was only a few dollars more on Amazon, and I figured I'd be disappointed if I spent the money on the regular version and then still wanted more. That's weird they didn't let John talk, and disappointing. Though I'm not a big fan of the Tugger character myself *ducks from inevitable onslaught of rotten food from Tugger fans*, I thought he did a simply amazing job in the film. It would have been interesting to hear his perspective. I am looking forward to the Jacob Brent interview though. I also really enjoyed Michael's Munkustrap. He was really charismatic. (And you're right, Mr. Webber would certiantly know best!) And I see now what you mean by wolf-dogs. That's great that they are all still with their owners. I have heard that due to their wolf side they have a tendency to be more aggressive or potentially dangerous for inexperienced owners. Is that true? I'm not a really fan of horses or snakes . I like cephalopods (squid, octopuses, etc.), lobsters, and bats. ROFL and hooray for 'the old fashioned way', lol. My other forums right now involve Star Trek and the Teen Titans. I'm a big fan of sci--fi, fantasy, and horror genres in general, and a DC comics lover. I used to belong to a Star Wars one too, but I got real busy and ended up having to drop that one.

The wierd thing is...they don't even mention John AT ALL in any of the interviews. They mention other cats members plenty. They show them a lot behind the scenes, and though they show John behind the scenes as well, 1) He doesn't say a word and 2) he looks kinda mad at something....Micheal talks a lot though, and he was so into the role of Munkustrap (it was a big thing for him, apparently). He seems, in my opinion, the most stoked to be there XD Jacob, meanwhile retains an aire of anti-social "don't-touch-me" attitude (similar to mine). Any aggression found in wolfdogs is due entirely to the dog half; NOT the wolf half. Wolves don't attack and eat people like the Grimm Brothers and Disney so often claim. Wolves are big cowards who'd rather run away then attack. Wolfdog attacks are due to 1) Poor ownership (the main one) 2) Poor training, and 3) An aggressive breed of dog was used in the cross (pitbull/wolves are the most dangerous cross, and the reason why most wolfdogs have a bad name). We only cross our wolves with wolf-breeds like Husky, German Shepherd and Malamute; we live on a farm and the wolves are best friends with the ponies and goats. No aggression in them at all, though ANY BREED OF DOG can be a potential danger to inexperienced owners (even something as small as a chihuahua)! lol...my mom is a Treky XD I like Futurama, Family Guy and The Simpsons. Fantasy-wise, I love dragons and unicorns. I've never RP'd in my life. Don't know how, not really all that interested ^^; So, I never play online Rps like Dungeons and Dragons or any of those life-controlling games. Was never a fan of space-stories, I happen to like Earth (not the people on it, but whatever XD) I prefer Manga over DC comics (though I am a Tank Girl and Spiderman fan). But, because I'm so easily distracted, I can only be active on one forum genre at a time. It's been ages since I visited any anime sites, horse sites or Futurama sites (though to be fair, the Futurama fans are jerks). CATS is the in-thing now for me, and if I dare go off into another fandom at this time, I may become too distracted to finish my fanfic When it comes to any kind of forum, I'll drop it like it's hot when something new peaks my interest. Shame on me.....

Lol, if they interviewed me, I'd probably be like Michael. I tend to get over-excited when I'm doing something I really love! It makes me wish I had stuck with the theater idea, now getting back into all of this. It' been waaaay too long since I've worked in theater.
Good to hear about the wolf-dogs. I always thought wolves were amazing creatures. Their society seems so complex and intelligent. I completely understand what you're saying about the bad rap some animals can get. I know at our shelter the owners had a lot to do with the dog's behavior, across all the breeds. We had one pitbull (admittedly an agressive breed, as you are well aware) that always caused trouble, but responded well to my friend in obedience class because she wasn't afraid to show him who was boss. He calmed down and was actually quite nice and controllable after that, but when he was adopted out, he was returned twice because the new owners refused to listen to the shelter advice on how to care for his particular personality needs. Gladly, he now lives with said friend and is getting along just fine with her and her roomate's other dog. From what you describe from the breeding, I bet your animals are beatuiful!
And I agree about jumping from fandom to fandom. I tend to get easily obsessed with something that I like, and most of my other things take a back seat during that time. Every so often I'll watch a movie again or hear a song and get re-obsessed with something else, and so the fixation shifts. Really I have like a handful (well, more likely more than that) of subjects/genres that I really love and obsess over, and it rotates based on mood and recent exposure which one I'm focused on at the time. And I think you should give rping a try sometime, if you feel up to it. I think from the way you write and think about the characters that you'd be quite good at it, and it can be fun. It's basically like writing a fanfic, only with a group of people as the authors, and each person writes their segment of the story from the point of view of their character or characters. Admittedly, I've been playing such games since I was around 10 years old, so I've kind of been sucked in for life, lol. Not like those people that play WoW 24/7 and freak out when they have to stop to eat lunch or go to the bathroom mind you, but it's become a pretty consistent hobby of mine when I can find the time.

lol...hi, Caffalle I'm the exact same way when it comes to fandoms. No doubt about that. We've had a few customers of ours phone us about their wolf puppy not behaving, and we always tell them the same thing; disclipline and dominance. Don't be sucked in by their cute little faces, they still need to know right from wrong! Most people nowadays don't even discipline their kids, let alone teach thier dogs any manners. It can be disturbing and unnerving at times; I personally can't stand when people let their dogs eat from their dinner plates and let them do whatever they want; Then, when they become sick and tired of it, they bring the poor beast to the shelter where folks like you get the not-so-fun task of retraining it...or at least trying to. My mom worked in animal shelters before, and most of the animals brought in were unruly and even vicious. Honestly, don't you sometimes think you should first have to pass a special class before you adopt anything? I can post pics of my wolfies if you wanna see 'em. They are gorgeous dogs, especially Tsume, our 98% Arctic/Timber wolf. He lives in the house and gets beat up by his 5 lb pollicle brother, Nibbler XD It's funny to watch. I know what RPing is, and I know how it works. But, that's the whole problem. Creativly, I do not work well with others. If I'm writing a story, it's gonna be MY story. I am unable to share creative control, and that's why I don't RP. I've done collab fanfics before, and to tell you the truth, I didn't much care for that either (and I'm sure the person working with me wished for a better partner!) I'm a very independant writer and (this is probably going to sound arrogant and condesending) I don't feel I need anyone's mediocre ideas to make my stories great. (wow, that sounded REALLY arrogant and condesending! I think I should clone myself so I can kick my own ass for that one XD) So, I'm curious...what's with the fascination with cephalopods? I mean, I can understand bats (bats are cool. I catch them all the time just to look at them), but squids and octopi? Do explain that one!

Hi Cafalle! *waves* Feel free to join in anytime. I think you should have to take a special class for children as well as animals XD. I agree with you, people just won't put in the effort anymore (yay for sweeping generalizations) with discipline and such. They just expect that the animals (or kids) should behave and pick up on it naturally. I feel bad for the animals in those situations, really, they deserve better. And I'd love to see pics of your doggies if you want to post them . I guess I see what you mean about writing with others. Sometimes it's hard if you have a certain way of writing or a certain idea for characters or plot and then other people don't quite fit with that. I find that it often helps me when I'm stuck creatively, since I often get stuck for plot ideas/twists. But no worries. To each his own, although I do have a fun mental image now of kicking your own ass, lol. I've always been interested in cephalopods. I was a marine biology major for my undergraduate degree, and I've always loved marine invertebrates because they're so different, almost alien. They work along a whole different set of physiological rules and constraints and have some amazing adaptations. Cephalopods, for example, are some of the most intelligent marine invertebrates (the octopus actually has the largest brain to body mass ratio of any invertebrate), and actually show personality traits. They also have amazing color changing abilities that they use both for camouflage and communication with each other. Some squid and cuttlefish can actually change half of their body pattern to promote mating towards a female while their other half remains in an aggressive pattern/posture towards would be male competitors. My undergraduate research centered on trying to design systems to raise squid, cuttlefish, and octopuses, and I studied octopus behavior breifly for my senior thesis project. The octopuses could recognize me and would change color depending on their mood. It was pretty cool.

Cuttlefish rock. A group (or school, or pod) of them lighting up all pretty makes the ocean look like the Vegas Strip. I want to touch an octopus. It looks all squishy and pleasant XD Underwater critters are cool to watch, but I'm partial to the cuddlier beasts. Not much of a dog person (no offense to my wolves), cats are alright (until it decides it'd rather piss on your couch then its litter box!), snakes rock (and lizards too....I always wanted to be a herpitoligist), horses are awesome (my fav of all the animals), goats are cool (they make dairy products), chickens are...tasty (lol...i'm NOT a vegan. I have nothing against them; I just like eating meat.) A short list of animals I don't much care for is 1) pigs (worked on a pig farm before, and they are vile, putrid, vicious, stupid animals). 2) Cockroaches (They don't call me 'Roach' cuz I resemble or even enjoy this disease-ridden little boogers. YUCK!) and lastly, HUMANS. My least fav. species of them all. Hey, Caffalle...you know what other word rocks? Antidisestablishmentarianism. Yes, it's a real word. Kinda blows your mind, huh? I'm also partial to onomatopoeia, tricadecaphobia and deoxyribonucleicacid (to be fair, that one's actually two words....)

Octopuses are quite squishy to touch, although I don't know if I'd describe it as pleasant. Interesting, strange, perhaps slightly disturbing? Lol, those little suckers (pun only partially intended) can have quite a grip when they want to. One of the things they do to sense something new they are curious about is to 'taste it', since the sensors near their mouth give them a lot of information. I had one try to 'taste' my hand whilst I was fishing out old food. I was afraid it wouldn't let go!
I do like cuddly things too as far as pets go. Pets like fish, lizards, etc. don't really appeal to me because I like to pet my pets. There's something therapeutic about touching something fuzzy. If I had to pick, I guess I'm more of a dog person, but there are few animals I actually hate. In fact, the only ones I can think of are some insects (I'm afraid of being stung) and monkeys. I HATE monkeys (and by monkeys I mean any primate of the sort, including apes, gorillas, etc.). They creep me out, though I don't really know why. Oh, and I agree with you completely on the humans. People are stupid has become my motto, lol.
Tricadecaphobia! *squees* 13 is my favorite and lucky number, so I definitely don't have this, lol, but you're right, it is a fantastic word!
